The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed wide receiver Courtney Roby. Roby, 6-0, 189 pounds, was originally selected by the Tennessee Titans in the third round (68th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. In seven seasons, he has played in 88 games with six starts while totaling 25 receptions for 332 yards with one touchdown. Roby has also recorded 121 kick returns for 3,007 yards, averaging 24.9 yards per return, and returning one kick for a touchdown. He spent his first two seasons with the Titans before being signed the Cincinnati Bengals in 2007. Roby signed with the New Orleans Saints midway through the 2008 season where he played until 2012. Roby was named a special teams captain for each of his last two seasons in New Orleans.
An Indianapolis, Indiana native, Roby closed career as Indiana University's all-time receiving leader with 170 catches for 2,524 yards. He attended North Central (Indianapolis) HS, where he earned All-State honor and was an All-State choice in track. Roby is the cousin of the late Reggie Roby who played 16 years (1983-98) in the NFL as a punter.
