Falcons Announce New Local TV Partner

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that WUPA-TV (Atlanta's CW69) will serve as the team's new local television broadcast partner beginning with the 2014 season. Atlanta's CW69 will broadcast the Falcons preseason games and also air two hours of weekly team programming.
Additionally, the station will produce a regular slate of Falcons specials each year, including a recap of the upcoming 2014 NFL Draft, a Falcons training camp preview, a Friday Night Lights special, as well as mid-season and a season-in-review show.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to be partners with a franchise as respected as the Atlanta Falcons. We look forward to providing Falcons fans with network-quality game broadcasts and coverage of the team throughout the football season," said Jack Walsh, Vice President and General Manager of Atlanta's CW69.
"We're excited to partner with CW69 and CBS Sports," said Tim Zulawski, Vice President of Sponsorship for the Falcons. "The enthusiasm and resources they bring to this relationship will ensure consistent quality programming for Falcons fans all year long."

Not only will Falcons fans have the opportunity to watch their team take shape throughout the preseason on CW69, but they will also enjoy weekly programming.

"Rise Up Weekly" will air on Saturdays from 6-7 p.m., and will feature in-depth interviews with players and coaches as well as features on players in the community, fantasy football, and a preview of each week's game. "Inside the Locker Room" is a half-hour postgame show that will air following each regular season game and will allow fans to get immediate reaction and a breakdown of the day's action from Head Coach Mike Smith and Falcons players. "Falcons Playbook" will be shown live on Mondays at 6 p.m., and will look back at the previous game with highlights, analysis and commentary from a variety of hosts. This show will also provide fans an opportunity to interact with the hosts, post opinions, reactions and photos.

WUPA, which is owned by CBS, will receive support from CBS Sports in New York which will oversee the production of the Falcons preseason game broadcasts.

"We're grateful to have the backing of our colleagues at CBS, including everyone at CBS Sports who has stepped up in such a big way to assist us," Walsh added. "Our commitment to the Falcons organization, Falcons fans, and our station partners includes using all of the CBS-owned assets in the Atlanta market to promote this partnership and associated programming."
