The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed safety Dezmen Southward. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Southward, 6-2, 210 pounds, was selected by the Falcons in the third round (68th overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft. He set a school record at Wisconsin by playing in 54 games, never missing a game, over his four-year career. Southward started 30 games, including 28 consecutive contests to end his career while recording 152 total tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss, with four forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 11 passes defensed. A two-time consensus All-Big 10 honorable mention, Southward started all 13 games during his senior season finishing fifth on team with 40 total tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss.
