FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Devonta Freeman has missed Atlanta's previous two games with a concussion – his second this year and third in his career.
Freeman was asked by reporters if his recent span of concussions scares him and if his mental approach to playing will be any different moving forward.
Freeman, who cleared the concussion protocol and returned to practice on Wednesday, quickly shut down any idea of being cautious moving forward. To Freeman, he's "all gas, no brakes" all the time.
That's the only way the Falcons' fourth-year running back knows how to play. Freeman is expected to play Sunday. The Falcons (7-4) will host the Minnesota Vikings (9-2) in a key NFC showdown at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. A 1 p.m. ET kickofff is scheduled.
"It's not something to worry about because I feel like anything that is going to happen will happen," Freeman said. "You can't live and dwell on what happens in the past. I'm just moving forward. I'm going to be the same guy when I get back on the field. Still have fun, talk junk a little bit … just have fun with it."
Prior to suffering the concussion, Freeman was performing at a strong level. The Falcons back has 515 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian has also utilized Freeman's pass-catching skills. Freeman has 19 catches for 137 yards.
