The Falcons have released veteran defensive lineman Tyson Jackson.
In three seasons with Atlanta, Jackson was consistently one of the team's best run defenders. The 30-year-old played in every game during his tenure, recording 73 tackles, three pass deflections and one quarterback hit.
"We appreciate everything Tyson brought to our organization during his three seasons here. He was a solid piece to our defensive line rotation, and we have a ton of respect for him and wish Tyson all the best going forward," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said.
Both head coach Dan Quinn and Dimitroff have stressed the emphasis of continuing to improve the play at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
With the emergence of Grady Jarrett in his second NFL season, Courtney Upshaw re-signing and veteran Derrick Shelby returning from a torn Achilles, the Falcons appear to have a solid foundation in place along the interior, but could look to add depth through free agency and the draft.
