In addition to placing Ridley and Trufant on IR, the Falcons have signed former Seahawks cornerback Jamar Taylor and promoted linebacker Ahmad Thomas to the active roster.
Taylor, 29, played in nine games with Seattle this season and recorded 20 tackles with three pass defenses. A second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Taylor has played for the Dolphins, Browns, Cardinals and Broncos in addition to the Seahawks. Taylor has started 41 games during his professional career and has 239 tackles, 31 pass defenses and three interceptions.
Thomas, 24, has spent the majority of the season on the Falcons' practice squad. He played in two games with one start for the Colts last season at linebacker. Prior to that, Thomas spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders. A three-year starter in the secondary at Oklahoma, Thomas was one of four team captains his senior year.
Atlanta has also signed tight end Carson Meier and linebacker Quentin Polin to its practice squad.
