FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of defensive back Ryan Neal and the release of tackle Kendall Calhoun on Saturday.

Neal, 23, was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Illinois. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound defensive back was released by the Eagles earlier this week. Neal played in 45 games during his four-year career at Southern Illinois, registering 226 tackles, 24 pass defenses and five interceptions.

Calhoun was signed by the Falcons on July 30 after being released by the Houston Texans earlier in the offseason.

The move comes one day after the Falcons' preseason opener, a 17-0 road loss to the New York Jets. Now, Atlanta turns its attention to its next preseason game, a 7 p.m. ET kickoff against the Kansas City Chiefs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
