FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons today have waived center Rob Bruggeman.

Bruggeman, 6-foot-4, 286 pounds, spent part of the 2009 season on the Falcons practice squad after being signed as a free agent on Sept. 7, 2009. He was originally signed as a rookie free agent by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following the 2009 NFL Draft.

Bruggeman was waived to make room on the roster for defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux, who served a one-game suspension. According to NFL rules, players serving suspensions don't count against the NFL-mandated 53-man active roster.

During his suspension, Babineaux was allowed to attend team and position meetings, as well as film study.
