EA Tiburon announced its latest release in the Madden NFL football franchise, Madden NFL 17, is hitting stands August 23. This latest edition will offer gamers the opportunity to play in one of the most anticipated new sports stadiums, Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
"As anticipation builds for the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium next summer, we're excited that fans will be able to see it come to life early in Madden NFL 17," said Steve Cannon, CEO, AMB Group. "The stadium is being designed with a focus on fans and the fan experience, so who better to see and play the first games virtually."
There will be two ways for players to access the stadium during gameplay. The first is to select the stadium in "Play Now" mode and the second is to complete one full season as the Atlanta Falcons in "Franchise" mode. The first season played with the Falcons in Franchise mode will default to the team's current stadium, the Georgia Dome, but upon completion of season one, additional games played will then take place in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be the first of its kind with an eight-petal retractable roof, mega-column video board with nearly 7.3 million LED lights and a world-first 360-degree HD Video board. All of these features are visible during gameplay of which video can be found here.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be home to two professional sports franchises including the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and the new MLS expansion team, Atlanta United. The venue will also play host to concerts and a number of other special events including the College Football Playoff National Championship (2018), Super Bowl LIII (2019) and NCAA Men's Final Four (2020).
