Mercedes-Benz Stadium implements policy to be fully smoke-free

ATLANTA, Ga. – Smoking will be prohibited in Mercedes-Benz Stadium starting immediately as fans will now be able to enjoy a smoke-free environment for all sports and entertainment events.

Smoking, inclusive of all tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and vaporizers, will not be permitted anywhere inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium's perimeter, including seats, fan concourses, bars and restaurants and the stadium's Front Porch, a large outdoor fan plaza area that is activated pre- and post-game for fans.

The Falcons will play their first regular-season game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sept. 17 for a "Sunday Night Football" matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium becomes the 12th NFL venue and the 10th MLS venue to implement a smoke-free policy and joins Philips Arena in Atlanta, which implemented a similar policy in February.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium was designed to deliver the ultimate fan experience. With a continued commitment to surveying fans, listening to their needs and responding, the stadium's new smoke-free status reflects overwhelming fan feedback and support for keeping the building and surrounding areas smoke-free.

"We've been steadfast in asking fans for insights into their experience in the stadium," said Scott Jenkins, general manager of Mercedes-Benz Stadium. "Implementing a smoke-free policy is an opportunity for us to respond to fan feedback and further enhance comfort, cleanliness and safety while our guests are cheering on their favorite sports team or watching one of many entertainment performances in the building."
