FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Free agent cornerback Dee Alford has re-signed with the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal, the organization announced Monday.
Alford was a restricted free agent this offseason after spending the last three seasons with the Falcons, but he was not tendered by the organization and, therefore, became an unrestricted free agent when the new league year began on March 12. Alford will be back in the fold for Atlanta, though.

The 27-year-old cornerback started 11 games for the Falcons last season, but appeared in 16 contests. He led the team with 11 passes defensed while also recording 83 tackles, one forced fumble, one sack and one tackle for a loss. Alford first moved into the starting lineup in 2023 at nickel, when he flashed his ability to force turnovers.
There were some down moments in coverage for Alford last season as the defense adapted to a new scheme and play style, but the team knows exactly what he brings to the table. His communication skills are valued as well, which is an important, if often under-discussed, aspect of a slot corner's job.
In his three seasons with the Falcons, Alford has played in 48 games and made 16 starts. He's recorded 149 tackles, 24 passes defended, two fumble recoveries, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one interception.
With Alford and outside cornerback Mike Hughes returning, the Falcons will bring back four of their starting five players from last year's secondary group. Safety Justin Simmons is still a free agent, but Atlanta still has Jessie Bates III, A.J. Terrell, Hughes and now Alford on the roster. That gives the Falcons a floor they should feel comfortable with heading into the 2025 NFL Draft, potentially providing the front office even more flexibility with their five picks.
