According to ESPN's Vaughn McClure, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter is scheduled to interview with the Falcons on Saturday.

Prior to becoming the Buccaneers' head coach, Koetter was the Falcons' offensive coordinator from 2012-14. In 2012, Koetter helped the Falcons reach the NFC Championship Game while boasting the league's eighth-best offense in yards per game and the seventh-best scoring offense. The Falcons were also a top-10 offense in yards per game in 2014 and averaged 24 points per game.

There is also a familiarity between Koetter and players such as Matt Ryan and Julio Jones, two central pieces to the Falcons' offense. Ryan and Jones were both named to the Pro Bowl in 2012 and 2014 while Koetter was offensive coordinator.
