Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders final auditions are today, and two-year team veteran Sara D. is well into her preparations for the grueling days that will decide if she'll be back on the team for the 2011 season. Follow her path to auditions and beyond in her diary here on AtlantaFalcons.com
I can't believe it.
The day is here. It's the day of FINALS!
Wednesday night, the ladies who made it through to the final round of Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders auditions learned the second half of the choreography from the AFC team choreographer, Jakene Ashford.
As we packed into a small room, we all took a collective deep breath in and out.
This is it.
Time to buckle down and show 'em what we've got!
Even though Wednesday night was a learning night, we were still watched and observed. We wear audition-style outfits and even have numbers. Everyone gets their serious game faces on as we clamor to learn the new moves and get them down before the night ends.
I stayed up late Wednesday night rehearsing. I ran the new choreography over and over again until it was literally ingrained in my mind. I went to sleep dreaming of the dance and woke up dancing!
Today is the big day — we've waited in anticipation, and you've followed the journey this far, it's hard to believe that today is the day that auditions come to a close.
Tonight, the ladies will be assigned into pairs and will perform two-by-two for the judges' panel.
If you want to watch the process, you can check it out, live and streaming online here. Everything begins around 6:30 p.m. today. You can watch all of the extremely beautiful and talented finalists do their thing as they work for a position on the 2011-2012 team.
I feel ready. I feel excited. I'm proud to say I actually really had fun this year. I kept reminding myself of what it meant to be on this team, what an incredible honor and privilege it is to be a part of something so special, and that I should enjoy each and every moment, no matter how small.
I'm thankful for every girl I've met, both new and veteran, every member of the Atlanta Falcons organization, and of course, every fan along the way. I can't wait to get out there to do what I love — perform and dance my heart out!
As always, thank you all so much for following my journey to make the team again. It means so much to me that I am able to share the process with you from the inside out. I've gotten amazing feedback and I'll be the first to tell you how much it means to me. Just goes to show you Falcons fans are the very best out there!
