Biography

D.J. Williams was named offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach on Feb. 22, 2024.

Williams joins the Falcons after spending the last five seasons (2019-23) as an offensive assistant with the New Orleans Saints. Prior to joining the Saints staff, Williams assisted New Orleans during training camp in 2017. He also worked with the club's coaches and football operations department in 2018.

In 2023, Williams helped Saints quarterback Derek Carr complete 375-of-548 attempts (68.4 percent) for 3,878 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a 97.7 passer rating in his first season in New Orleans. Carr finished the season top 10 among quarterbacks in completions, passing touchdowns and passer rating.

Williams graduated from Grambling State in 2015, where he played quarterback for the Tigers from 2011-14, starting contests in all four seasons and earning tryouts with several NFL teams following the conclusion of his collegiate career. Williams is the son of Washington Commanders executive Doug Williams, who won Super Bowl XXII, making him the first black quarterback in NFL history to both start and win a Super Bowl.

From 2019-21 and in 2023, Williams participated in the NFL/Black College Football Hall of Fame Quarterback Coaching Summit. He served as the National Team quarterbacks coach at the 2023 Senior Bowl.
