Ok, so here we go! It's draft time and I'm going to take the fools path and give you all 6 of the Falcons' picks for the 2020 NFL Draft. These are simply my selections without any solicitations of the head coach, general manager, or anyone else. I picked players I think will be there at the time. I'm also including what I call my wish pick which is a more wishful thinking pick that's within reason. We'd all love to have Isaiah Simmons, Derrick Brown, Jeff Okudah and Chase Young. So that said, time to fire away!
1*st* Round (16th overall)—Falcons go corner, there are some really good Day 1 starters in this group and I'm going hedge my pick with 2 players. CJ Henderson, Florida or AJ Terrell, Clemson. Both excellent size at 6'1", 200lbs. Both excellent in man to man coverage and they both can run, 4.39 and 4.42 respectively in 40. My wish pick--DT Jevon Kinlaw, South Carolina.
2*nd* Round (47th overall)—Falcons pick a defensive tackle to battle alongside Pro Bowler Grady Jarrett. I'm taking Jordan Elliott, Missouri. I love OU's Neville Gallimore here as well but I believe Elliott is a little more stout at the point of attack. My wish pick--CB Jeff Gladney, TCU.
3*rd* round (78th overall)—Falcons take a LB that is a tackling machine. I like Logan Wilson, Wyoming. He's got excellent range and a nose for the ball. My wish pick--Edge Curtis Weaver, Boise St.
4*th* Round (119th overall)—Falcons select an edge rusher, this is not a deep class of edge players and not sure this guy is still available at this point but I'm going with Jonathon Greenard, Florida. My wish pick—LB Jordyn Brooks, Texas Tech.
4*th* Round (143rd overall)—Falcons get offensive with the selection of a guard. Looking to bolster the depth along the interior of the offensive line, I'm picking Damien Lewis, LSU. Not going to bullrush this guy, a big tough wide body with excellent feet. This guy is my wish pick here!
7*th* Round (228th overall)—Falcons going with the best player available, certainly a complete guess as to who's still on board here. I'll go with Thaddeus Moss, LSU. My wish pick—RB DeeJay Dallas, Miami.
Well there you go, It was fun to try to project who might be there based on their pre draft grades and maybe a little wishful thinking on my part. We don't have to wait too much longer because the draft is just hours away! Enjoy the draft and here's to "good picking".
