Keith Brooking to announce Falcons draft pick

The former Atlanta linebacker is reportedly scheduled to announce the team's selection on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Former Falcons linebacker Keith Brooking has been chosen to announce Atlanta's Day 2 picks for the 2025 NFL Draft, according to a report by ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

The NFL has selected a number of active players and team legends to announce picks for rounds 2 and 3 on Friday night. Brooking, a first-round pick for the Falcons in the 1998 NFL Draft, spent 11 seasons in Atlanta and was a fan-favorite defender at the start of the 21st Century. He made five consecutive Pro Bowls from 2001-05, and he was named second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press twice during that span. Brooking led all NFL defenders with 126 solo tackles during the 2003 season; his 144 combined tackles that year were his most in any single season.

From 1998-08, Brooking ranked sixth among all NFL defenders with 1,133 combined tackles, finishing one spot behind Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis on that list. Brooking's 888 solo tackles rank third in Falcons history for an individual defender behind only Jessie Tuggle and Scott Case. Before he joined the Falcons, Brooking was already intimately familiar with Atlanta. He starred at linebacker for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1994-97 and finished his career as the school's all-time leading tackler.

The Falcons currently hold just one pick on Day 2 — No. 46 overall in the second round. However, general manager Terry Fontenot has made it clear that he's open to acquiring more draft picks via a trade, so there's always the chance Brooking comes to the podium more than once on Friday night.
