FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Bijan Robinson is doing big things in his second NFL season.
The expectations were high for the former No. 8 overall pick entering the year, and Robinson has met or surpassed those in every conceivable way. He has not fumbled once through 14 weeks of the season, and his growth in pass protection is one of the true revelations for the Falcons in 2024. Perhaps no game illustrated that growth more than Atlanta's recent game against the blitz-heavy Minnesota Vikings.
"He's done even more than I even had for his expectations when it comes to pass pro, when it comes to some of the toughness that he brings to our table and the mindset that he brings to our team," Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said.
Voting for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games has begun — you can cast yours here — and Robinson's ascent as one of the best running backs in the league is worthy of recognition. Let's take a closer look as to why that is.
How Robinson stacks up to the competition
Robinson ranks third among all NFC players with 1,378 scrimmage yards through 13 games. He is second among NFC running backs with 401 receiving yards, tied for fifth with 66 first downs and tied for sixth in total touchdowns with nine.
With nine games of at least 100 yards from scrimmage, Robinson ranks second in the NFL behind only Saquon Barkley. His 67 missed tackles forced are third among NFC running backs.
Notable Next Gen Stat
Robinson has recorded an average speed of 11.02 miles per hour at the line of scrimmage this season, which is fastest among running backs with at least 100 carries.
Best game of the season
There are many games that could be recognized in this spot, but Robinson's performance against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10 takes that cake. In that game, Robinson ran the ball 20 times for 116 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught three passes for 28 yards, bringing his total output to 144 yards.
One quote to earn your vote
"You've got to look at him and Saquon. I think those two are the freakiest two guys; they've just got stuff that you can't coach. His ability to be a three-down back where you see him in the run game, and he's either juking you in the run game or trucking you in the run game. And then in pass protection, you see him stick linebackers constantly up the middle. He excels in all of those aspects. And then you get him out in space, and you get him involved in the passing game. I don't think there's a more well-rounded running back in the league." – Falcons linebacker Nate Landman
