Reggie Roberts: Walk us through what your week was like last week when you knew that you would get an opportunity to play against the Philadelphia Eagles with Harry Douglas injured?
*Drew Davis: *The feeling all week was that I needed to step up. At the same time, you are out there with Matt (Falcons QB Matt Ryan); you are out there with Harry Douglas, Roddy White, and Julio Jones. All I was trying to do was to be on point. I was little nervous and I didn't want to make any mistakes because Matt is a very meticulous guy. He is very precise, so I wanted to make sure that I was ready to go.
RR: Were you nervous in the meeting rooms last week leading up to the game against the Eagles?
DD: I was good in the meeting rooms. What made me nervous was wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie asking me questions about my game assignments every three seconds. He was asking me stuff that we've been doing for the last two years. * *
RR: Walk us through the play that you scored on.
DD:We had been working on that play all week in practice. We thought that we would get a different look than the one that we got. Their corner (Dominique Rogers-Cromartie) was playing off. As I ran out to block him, I saw that all of the other Eagles defenders were running to cover Julio so I ran to the end zone, looked up, and I saw the ball in the air. I tracked the ball and caught it in the back of the end zone. I knew it was going to be a close play, so I drug my feet so I could get that nice toe-tap in. Once I turned around, it took the refs a little while to signal touchdown, but I was pumped when they did.
RR: Did your phone blow up with congratulations after scoring your first NFL touchdown?
*DD: *I got more text messages than anything. Everyone knows to text me after games. I think I had about 65 text messages after the game from family and friends. It's been cool.
RR: Do you watch much TV?
*DD: *Not really. I read a lot, though.
RR: What kind of books do you read?
DD:I like books where the author has won the Pulitzer Prize. I've read both on Tony Dungy's books. I know Coach Dungy personally because his son (Eric) plays football at the University of Oregon. I'm interested in becoming an actor when I am done with football, so I have read books on acting by Sidney Poitier. I recently read To Kill a Mockingbird (by Nelle Harper Lee).
RR: What's the one show that you never miss?
DD: Breaking Bad. I never miss it. I own all of the seasons and season six is coming out this fall.
RR: What websites do you visit every day?
DD: *I am always trying to keep my music game tight so I always go to www.hotnewhiphop.com *to check out the latest hip hop songs, albums, and mix tapes.
RR: Someone told me that you are a big music guy. Walk me through what that means.
*DD: *It means that I have a ton of songs on my computer.
RR: What's it like being in a meeting room with Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Terry Robiskie?
*DD: *There is never a dull moment in that room, I can assure you. Coach Robiskie has been coaching for more than 37 years, and he is always working with all of his guys to make sure that we all work hard improve. He is a fantastic coach.
RR: As a former Oregon Duck, do you hate Oregon State?
*DD: *You have no idea how much. Some days, I can't even look Quizz (Falcons running back Jacquizz Rodgers and Davis are roommates) in the face. I can't stand Oregon State.
RR: Then how does that work out with you and Jacquizz being roommates?
DD: We are actually really tight, but there is a ton of trash talking that goes on all hours of the day.
RR: And finally, you are hosting a dinner party. You can have five guys from any generation and five girls at the party. Who are you inviting and tell us about each person?
*DD: *The five men would be. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Denzel Washington, Barry Sanders, Tiger Woods, and President Barack Obama. The five ladies would be Paula Patton, Halle Berry, Serena Williams, Erykah Badu, and Hillary Clinton.
