Dan Quinn not giving up play-calling duties despite recent defensive struggles

PHOENIX – The 53 points the Falcons surrendered to the Texans was the most since the 2004 season. Atlanta currently ranks No. 31 out of 32 teams in scoring defense, allowing 31. 4 points per game and is tied with the Miami Dolphins (0-5) and Denver Broncos (1-4) in sacks with five on the year.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn took over as defensive coordinator following the 2018 season.

When asked if he was planning to give up his play-calling duties, here's what Quinn had to say:

"I understand that for sure, my job is to fix it," Quinn said. "My ego would never be as big as the team, I'll always do what's best for the team. If I felt that was best, trust me, I would have certainly done that. I know what we can do, we can do better. That's where my mind is. At this time, I don't think that's where I'm at. I don't see myself in that space."

The Falcons (1-4) are hoping their week in Arizona together will help get them back on track. Rather than heading back to Atlanta after playing in Houston on Sunday, the team flew straight to Arizona where they are practicing all week before taking on the Arizona Cardinals (1-3-1).
