FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – When Falcons coach Dan Quinn was asked if his gameday responsibilities will change now that he is assuming the role of defensive coordinator for the Falcons, Quinn said without hesitation that "yes" it would.

This isn't the first time Quinn will have to navigate how his gameday will flow as defensive coordinator and head coach. Quinn assumed the play-calling duties in the final quarter of the 2016 season when the Falcons went on their Super Bowl run.
"[I went back] to say what things would I do that I'm doing now that I wouldn't be able to do in that same role? I even turned back the clock when I did that role in for a good portion of the season in 2016 to say what are some of the things or issues that came up that I wanted to make sure I address if that situation came about. There will be some roles that will be different in game."
So how will Quinn manage all of the responsibilities that fall on gameday if he's focused on calling the plays and managing the defense?
As he's going through the evaluation process with his coaching staff, he says he's "definitely" looking at giving those responsibilities to someone on his coaching staff.
This wouldn't be abnormal by any means with so many NFL head coaches calling plays on offense and defense these days.
After his first season as Rams' head coach while calling the plays on offense, Sean McVay hired a coach to serve as a clock management specialist to help with decisions on when to use timeouts and other clock management responsibilities.
This could certainly be something Quinn does moving forward as time management has proved it can be the difference in winning or losing games.
