FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Falcons signed defensive lineman Demone Harris to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced Friday.
Harris has appeared in three games this season when the Falcons selected to use him in standard practice squad elevations. He's recorded three tackles, one for a loss and a quarterback hit in those outings.
The defensive lineman comes with several years of NFL experience, as he began his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. Overall, Harris has posted 14 tackles, three for a loss, four quarterback hits and one pass breakup in 17 appearances. Atlanta is looking for additional help in pressuring the quarterback, and Harris has been effective at times in doing that this season.
This move comes after the Falcons released offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn on Thursday. Atlanta also signed kicker Riley Patterson to the practice squad and released safety Dane Cruikshank on Friday afternoon. Patterson's signing was labeled an "emergency" move by Falcons head coach Raheem Morris after Friday's practice in case Younghoe Koo, who is questionable for Sunday, is unable to play. As of now, however, all indications are that Koo will be able to play through a right hip injury, and Morris said he believes "we'll be fine" on that front.
