FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons collected their sixth win of the season Sunday, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 27-21. However, their victory was not without cost.
Two foundational pieces of the team's roster, wide receiver Drake London and defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, left the game due to injury and did not return.
London did not see the field again after scoring a 9-yard touchdown in the first quarter. He was ruled out due to a hip injury and could be seen working on the stationary bike and doing other exercises to test his lower body on the sideline. Jarrett left the game late in the third quarter due to an Achilles strain.
"Grady is day-to-day," Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said about Jarrett on Monday. "Looked at it today, I think it was good news, good sign with the imaging and all that type of stuff. I don't know the exact terms, but he's feeling better than he felt yesterday."
Jarrett underwent an MRI on his Achilles tendon Monday, and told reporters in the locker room that same day he felt “positive” about the results and considers himself day-to-day. There appears to be a reason for optimism regarding London as well. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted Monday that the belief is Atlanta's star receiver sustained a hip pointer, which is not typically a "long-term" issue.
"Drake has the hip pointer," Morris said. "I'm thinking that's day-to-day. That will be a little pain-tolerance deal, and I'll definitely have a better feel on Thursday. We'll see what Wednesday entails and what that looks like, but I'll definitely have a better feel for that on Thursday."
Through nine weeks, London has 50 receptions for 552 yards and six receiving touchdowns, which are tied for the second most in the league. Jarrett leads the Falcons with 2.5 sacks on the season, including one on Sunday against the Cowboys. He has 30 tackles, nine quarterback hits and six tackles for a loss so far this year.
The Falcons' first official injury report of the week will be released Wednesday, which will provide more information about the status of London and Jarrett. Atlanta is on the road in Week 10 for a rematch against the New Orleans Saints.
