SiriusXM: Dontari Poe compliments Quinn, had fun in Atlanta
Defensive tackle Dontari Poe is expected to hit free agency on March 14 after spending one season in Atlanta. Although the Falcons are looking to bolster the interior of their defensive line, the price tag for Poe is likely too high for a franchise that is wisely looking towards the future and a bevy of draft picks that will need extensions in the coming years.
Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio Friday, Poe said he was leaving all doors open and had a good time playing in Atlanta last season.
One aspect of the Falcons Poe mentioned specifically was head coach Dan Quinn. A hands-on leader, Quinn is often seen working closely with his players, particularly the defensive line where his area of expertise is greatest.

BIGGEST NEWS FROM AROUND THE NFL
ESPN.com: Richard Sherman signs three-year contract with 49ers
Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman is staying in the NFC West. Expected to be one of the premier free agents on the market, Sherman ultimately met with only the San Francisco 49ers before agreeing to a three-year contract with the club. According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the deal is laden with incentives and could be worth up to $39.15 million.
The 49ers announced the signing on Sunday, and general manager John Lynch released a statement on his newest player.
"Richard is one of the premier competitors Kyle and I have ever encountered," general manager John Lynch said in a statement. "We look forward to him sharing his wealth of experience and his passion for the game of football with our team. Richard has long been looked at as the prototypical corner in our scheme, and the opportunity to have him mentor our players was one we needed to attack. Most importantly, we are excited to have a championship-caliber corner on the field for the 49ers."
