The Falcons have signed wide receiver/ return specialist Andre Roberts.
"Andre is an experienced receiver that will come in and compete for our returner spot as well as provide depth at wide receiver," said general manager Thomas Dimitroff. "We are really happy with the moves we have been able to make in free agency so far, and we feel we have added some really solid pieces while continuing our focus on retaining our own players."
Roberts will get an opportunity to compete for the kickoff/punt return position this season with the Falcons. Over his career he averages 23.8 yards per kick return, and last season with the Detroit Lions he averaged 12.3 yards per punt return with two punt return touchdowns. He has three return touchdowns over his career.
Roberts was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the third round (88th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. The 5-11 receiver played in 62 games with 35 starts over four years with the Cardinals, while posting 182 receptions for 2,123 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. Roberts was then signed by the Washington Redskins in 2014, where he spent two years, and last season he played for the Lions. He has played in 103 career games with 40 starts, while tallying 243 receptions for 2,899 yards and 14 touchdowns over his seven-year career.
