Falcons Defense Stops Manning In First Half

The storyline may have been Peyton Manning and the no huddle heading into the game against the Falcons Monday night, but Atlanta's defense quickly gave themselves top billing.

In addition to three interceptions off Manning in the first three possessions, the Falcons also got a forced fumble from linebacker Stephen Nicholas, recovered by Sean Weatherspoon and two punts. In total, Denver's first six possessions ended with the offense giving the ball back to Atlanta.

The Falcons allowed the Broncos to score a touchdown on the final possession of the first half, just prior to halftime.

Atlanta's defense is playing much like they did in the second half of the Week 1 against the Chiefs. In that game, they forced three straight turnovers, helping put the game away.

With the four turnovers on Monday night, the Falcons are 7 in takeaways on the season. If they stay there through the conclusion of Monday's game, their mark will be tops in the league.
