FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. --The Atlanta Falcons today announced that club President Rich McKay has signed a five-year extension of his contract. The five-year extension carries his contract term through June 2015. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
McKay, now in his sixth season with the Falcons as the team president, handles all business operations of the club including Marketing, Finance, Ticket Sales, Football Communications, Community Relations, Human Resources, and Retail. He also works with Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff in running the club's player salary cap and contract negotiations. Additionally, he directs the Falcons' efforts related to future new stadium plans.
McKay serves as the Falcons liaison with the NFL office in New York City regarding all football and business-related matters. As co-chairman of the NFL's Competition Committee since 1998, his well-documented reputation is recognized throughout the league.
Since joining the organization in December 2003, McKay has been instrumental in building the Falcons into a league-leading business organization and in growing the team's fan base.

McKay, an 18-year veteran of the NFL, was the General Manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for nearly nine seasons. He saw the ultimate results of his overhaul of the Buccaneers on January 26, 2003, when Tampa Bay defeated the Oakland Raiders 48-21 to win Super Bowl XXXVII. McKay began his tenure with the Buccaneers in 1992 as Vice President of Football Administration.
Prior to joining the Buccaneers, McKay was an attorney with the Tampa law firm of Hill, Ward, and Henderson, where he was the Buccaneers' legal counsel for six years. He earned his bachelor's degree from Princeton University and graduated from Stetson's College of Law in 1984.
