Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff hints that Dontari Poe will likely play elsewhere next season

INDIANAPOLIS – Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff provided an update on the status of Atlanta's roster ahead of free agency.

Dimitroff said that defensive tackle Dontari Poe will be one of the players to hit the market come March 14 and he expects Poe to land a "lucrative" deal.

"He will be going to the market," Dimitroff said of Poe. "I'm confident he's going to sign a deal somewhere and be happy."

The Falcons signed Poe to a one-year deal worth a reported $8 million during free agency last year.

Poe helped the Falcons significantly in his first season. Not only was he an instrumental part of Atlanta's run defense that ranked No. 9 against the run, he helped Grady Jarrett continue to develop. Often times the attention Poe saw gave Jarrett the freedom to move around and make plays.

In one season with the Falcons, Poe contributed 39 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
