FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – Thomas Dimitroff was on hand for Georgia's pro day Wednesday, but it didn't take long for Matt Ryan's name to come up. The Falcons general manager was asked about the status of a new deal for his franchise quarterback.
When the 2017 season ended, Dimitroff said this would be the No. 1 priority for the team this offseason. The status hasn't changed much from the last time Dimitroff answered questions about this topic at the NFL combine in early March.
"With Matt we have ongoing conversations there's no timeframe on it," said Dimitroff, who was also there with head coach Dan Quinn. "We're in the middle of trying talking about. Of course we would like to get it done soon because we want the focus for Matt and our team to be on the season. I can't give you an exact timeframe on it, suffice to say we've had good conversations with his representation and we always have good conversations with Matt in general about our team and how important he is to the football team."
Dimitroff also said that with free agency starting last week, there hasn't been a "massive press" to get the deal done right now. All along, Dimitroff has said he doesn't expect this to be a complicated process with Ryan and his representation, there's just a lot of moving pieces involved.
