FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Falcons coach Dan Quinn announced on Friday that defensive end Takkarist McKinley will play in Sunday's game against the Bengals but a trio of players have been ruled out due to injury, including running back Devonta Freeman who is dealing with a knee injury.

Also sitting out Sunday's contest are defensive end Derrick Shelby, who has a groin injury, and cornerback Justin Bethel, who has a knee injury. Although Freeman will not be active on Sunday, Quinn said he liked the progression he saw from him this week.
"When we list him as day to day until he can do those things to get going, I thought this week I saw the big jump," Quinn said. "Instead of just [going] as part of rehab, but really participate into practice and putting his foot in the ground and explode. I thought it was good from Wednesday, better to Thursday and even better today. I thought he made a lot of progress this week."
