The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have signed wide receiver Tim Toone and tight end Chase Coffman to the active roster, placed tight end Tommy Gallarda on injured reserve, and signed tight end Andrew Szczerba to the practice squad.
Toone, 5-10, 175 pounds, was originally selected by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round (255th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Falcons as an unrestricted free agent on July 25, 2012. He was waived-injured by Atlanta on September 6, 2012. Toone caught three passes for 55 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown during the 2012 preseason.
Coffman, 6-6, 250 pounds, was originally selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round (98th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Falcons as a free agent on August 11, 2012 and served as a member of the team's practice squad prior to being signed to the active roster.
Gallarda, 6-5, 259 pounds, was originally signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as a college free agent following the 2011 NFL Draft. He was signed by the Falcons in 2011 and was a member of the team's practice squad. In 2012, he saw action in all nine games as a reserve tight end and recorded one reception for seven yards.
Szczerba, 6-6, 256 pounds, was originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as a college free agent following the 2012 NFL Draft. He played four years at Penn State University where he was a co-recipient of the 2010 Frank Patrick Total Commitment Award.
