The Atlanta Sports Council held its annual Atlanta Sports Awards banquet Monday night, and the Falcons came away big winners.
The Falcons brought home awards in three categories. Head coach Mike Smith was named the coach of the year; wide receiver Roddy White was named the professional athlete of the year; and the Atlanta Falcons were named the team of the year — all three categories nominated by fans.
Winners were determined by the Atlanta Sports Awards Voting Academy, a panel of local sports business leaders, athletic administrators and corporate sponsor representatives.
