The Falcons and team owner and chairman Arthur Blank have placed a high priority on community service and involvement, and that includes the NFL's Play 60 program, which encourages kids to exercise 60 minutes a day. Because of that devotion to the program and other community initiatives, the Falcons performed very well in a recent Play 60 contest in the "favorite team" category.
NFL Play 60 ran a contest that ended during the weekend where the winning school or community center would win a visit from the NFL Play 60 bus and NFL players to deliver improvements.
As part of the entry form, entrants were asked to name their favorite team. The Falcons finished in the top quartile among entrants in that category.
NFL Play 60 is designed to tackle childhood obesity, bringing together the NFL's long-standing commitment to health and fitness with a long list of partner organizations. From contests to programs and community events, NFL Play 60 offers a wide range of opportunities for schools and community centers to get involved in ending childhood obesity.
The Falcons took the lead on helping to get the word out two years ago when the first Play 60 bus commercial was filmed featuring Blank, general manager Thomas Dimitroff and players.
