Game Notebook: Falcons at Texans

  • WR Devin Hester scored his first touchdown in a Falcon uniform, catching a short pass from QB Sean Renfree and running 12 yards to the endzone. In his career, Hester has scored 33 total touchdowns, including 14 receiving scores.
  • WR Julio Jones caught two passes for 20 yards in his first game action since suffering a foot injury in 2013. In 34 career games, Jones has caught 174 passes for 2,737 yards with 20 touchdowns.
  • QB Sean Renfree completed 70 percent of his passes, seven of 10 attempts, for 49 yards with one touchdown while posting a 114.2 quarterback rating in his most extensive action of the preseason. The second-year signal caller was selected by the Falcons in the seventh round (249th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Duke. He spent the entire 2013 season on injured reserve.
  • LB Paul Worrilow led the team with a game-high eight tackles (six solo) while adding one tackle for loss and one quarterback hit despite only playing the first half. Worrilow led the Falcons with 137 total tackles as a rookie in 2013. In doing so, he became the first undrafted rookie in franchise history to lead the team in tackles.
  • S Kemal Ishmael notched his first NFL interception, picking off QB Ryan Fitzpatrick at the Falcons two-yard line in the fourth quarter. Ishmael finished the game with three tackles (one solo) and one tackle for loss.
  • RB Devonta Freeman had 42 yards on seven touches. He rushed six times for 31 yards, including a 15-yard scamper. He also added one reception for 11 yards bringing his preseason total to 149 yards on 18 touches. The rookie out of Florida State is averaging 8.3 yards per touch in the preseason.
  • After two games, QB Matt Ryan is completing 71.4 percent of his passes, connecting on 10 of 14 attempts for 90 yards with an 88.4 quarterback rating in two games. He was three for seven for 37 yards on Saturday night.
