Game Notebook: Falcons at Vikings

  • The Falcons produced more than 400 yards of total offense for the third time this season, logging 298 yards through the air and 123 yards on the ground.
  • WR Roddy White tied WR Terance Mathis for the franchise lead in receiving touchdowns when he caught his 57th career score on a 24-yard pass from QB Matt Ryan. White finished the game with four catches for 73 yards and a score. His 57 touchdowns are the 12th most among active receivers and he trails RB Michael Turner (61) for the franchise record for overall touchdowns.
  • Ryan finished the game completing 25 of 41 passes for 298 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while posting an 87.2 passer rating. Ryan has thrown multiple touchdowns in five of his last six games dating back to last season. The Falcons lost for just the second time when he throws three-or-more touchdowns (20-2).
  • Ryan hit FB Patrick DiMarco for a one-yard touchdown on a play-action pass at the goal line giving DiMarco his first career touchdown. DiMarco has caught 12 passes for 85 yards in his career.
  • WR Devin Hester continued to show his playmaking ability, taking a short pass from Ryan and racing 36 yards to the end zone for his first touchdown catch as a Falcon.
  • Sunday marked Hester's second straight game with a touchdown after scoring on a 20-yard run and a 62-yard punt return against Tampa Bay in Week 3. Hester has caught 15 touchdown passes in his career and scored 36 total touchdowns, including an NFL record 20 returns.
  • Hester's 36-yard touchdown reception is tied for the fifth longest non-return score of his career. Hester has now scored 11 explosive touchdowns on offensive plays 20-yards or longer.
  • Hester has posted back to back games with a non-return touchdown three times in his career. Sunday marked the first time he's accomplished that feat since December 20 and December 26, 2010.
  • RB Antone Smith proved to be a home run threat once again, breaking a 48-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Smith has scored three times this season with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
  • In the last two seasons, Smith has scored on runs of 38, 38, 48, and 50 yards while also adding a 54-yard touchdown reception. He is averaging 45.6 yards per scoring play and 16.4 yards per touch in his career.
  • WR Julio Jones caught a team-high six passes for 82 yards, running his season totals to 29 receptions and 447 yards. Both Jones and Hester are averaging more than 15 yards per catch.
  • LB Paul Worrilow led the team with nine total tackles (five solo), while rookie LB Prince Shembo tallied eight stops (four solo).
  • P Matt Bosher booted five punts 250 total yards, averaging 50 yards per kick (42.2 net) with two punts downed inside the Vikings 20-yard line and a long of 59 yards. Bosher has averaged more than 50 yards per punt in a single-game 16 times in his career.
