Why did you want to become a limited partner in the Atlanta Falcons organization?
Atlanta has been home for me since the summer of 1980. I have seen the transformation in the Falcons and what joy it brings to our community. I wanted to be part of that commitment to our fans.
When you look back at your career, what is something that makes you the most proud?
Being in retail and health care over my career, I am most proud of my advocacy for my customers and employees. I would wake every day mindful of the impact of my decisions on their welfare.
What makes the city of Atlanta special?
There is no other place in the U.S. like Atlanta! I have lived and traveled to so many cities across this country and nowhere else will you find such a broad perspective on diversity. I have attended some of the best events in this city and see a strong mix of race and gender in the room bonded through deep personal relationships.
Can you briefly describe any philanthropic passions you have?
I am extremely passionate about education. I served the board of Spelman College for 17 years of which 12 of those years was as Chair. I saw firsthand the impact of education on first generation students like myself. I am now focusing on K-12 public education through my work with the KIPP Foundation.
