One Gilmer County man's dream of grabbing a spot at the Super Bowl may come true courtesy of a quarter-million dollar prize from the Georgia Lottery. Jerry Stanley of East Ellijay, Ga., won a $250,000 top prize playing the football-themed Atlanta Falcons Cash Blowout instant game.
He claimed his prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Dalton.
Stanley, 48, hopes that he can watch the Atlanta Falcons – his favorite football team – play in the Super Bowl.
"I watch them, and I'm definitely a fan of the Atlanta Falcons. They're 6-0," the lucky winner said. "They're doing well this year. I'm going to buy tickets to the Super Bowl, especially if they go."
Stanley, who is a heavy equipment operator, has two children, ages 23 and 13.
He also has plans to pay off his parents' bills.
Maddox Circle BP, located at 11 Maddox Circle in East Ellijay, sold the lucky ticket.
