The Atlanta Falcons kicked off the regular season in the Georgia Dome against the Philadelphia Eagles in a Monday Night Football matchup. Here are photos from the game.
The Dan Quinn era got off to an encouraging start, as the Falcons beat the Eagles 26-24 to move to 1-0 in 2015. Ricardo Allen all but clinched the victory for Atlanta by picking off Sam Bradford with 69 seconds left in regulation.
Fresh off a contract extension, Julio Jones showed why he's now paid as an elite wide receiver. The 26-year-old finished with nine catches for 141 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He certainly got the best of CB Byron Maxwell, who also signed a lucrative deal in the offseason.
A big reason why Jones racked up so many yards was the reconstructed offensive line, which held up incredibly well. The five-man unit gave Matt Ryan tremendous pass protection throughout the night and aided Tevin Coleman in his 80-yard professional debut.
The Falcons now shift their focus north to the Meadowlands, where they'll take on the New York Giants next Sunday, Sept. 20. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
