Falcons Head Coach Mike Smith said today that rookie defensive tackle Peria Jerry, the team's first round pick in 2009, had surgery on Tuesday to repair his left knee.

"That all went well and we're looking forward to getting him back in Atlanta this week so he can start his rehab," Smith said.

Jerry suffered the season-ending knee injury on Sept. 20 in the Falcons' 28-20 victory over Carolina. Jerry was placed on injured reserve and the team signed Vance Walker from the practice squad to take his place. Thomas Johnson now is in Jerry's starting spot at tackle.
