FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons signed safety Josh Thompson and cornerback William Hooper, the team announced Monday.
In turn, the Falcons released wide receiver Austin Mack and running back Robert Burns
Thompson is a former undrafted free agent who joined the NFL in 2022. As a rookie, he appeared in six games with the Tennessee Titans, solely on special teams. He did not see the field in 2023, spending only part of the season on the Titans' practice squad. He was with the Houston Texans this spring but was waived in April.
Hooper is also an undrafted free agent who joined the league in 2023 as a member of the Green Bay Packers. He has not played in a live game yet but has also spent time with the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals.
Meanwhile, Mack played seven offensive snaps in the Falcons' loss to the Miami Dolphins last Friday, failing to catch his one targeted pass. Burns had been on the Falcons' Physically Unable to Perform list since July.
