Falcons running back Kenjon Barner was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday after breaking off a 78-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter of Atlanta's 29-3 win against the Carolina Panthers.
The 78-yard touchdown return is the longest punt return in the NFL so far in 2019. Barner has been a solid addition to the Falcons this season, returning 18 punts for 204 yards and a league-best 11.3 yards per return.
This is the second-straight week that a Falcons player has won NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Kicker Younghoe Koo won the award after making all four of his field goal attempts against the New Orleans Saints.
