FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons are signing defensive lineman Morgan Fox, according to a joint report from NFL Network and Fox Sports reporters.

Fox's deal is reportedly for two years and potentially worth more than $8.5 million.

In his eight years of work, Fox has played every game in all but one season – his rookie. He has made 34 starts in his career, with a peak of 12 in 2022.

The 30-year-old most recently completed three full seasons for the Los Angeles Chargers. While there, he totaled 15.5 sacks – breaking down into a career-high 6.5 in 2022, 5.5 in 2023 and 3.5 in 2024. Along with those marks, Fox made 80 tackles, 17 of which were for a loss, and 27 quarterback hits. He posted double-digit quarterback hits in both 2022 and 2023, the only times he has done so at this point. Fox also had a pass breakup in 2024.

Prior to the Chargers, Fox spent the 2021 season with the Carolina Panthers. In nine starts and 17 games, he had 34 tackles, just two of which were for a loss, paired with seven quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Fox has had his longest run so far with a single team – the Los Angeles Rams – from 2016-20. The Rams first signed Fox as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Fox appeared in four games that year but 16 – then 17 when the schedule changed in 2021 – from there on out when healthy. He did spend the entire 2019 season on injured reserve due to a knee injury he sustained during the Rams' offseason program.

During those four active seasons, Fox made 69 tackles, 14 of which were for a loss, in addition to 17 quarterback hits, 10.5 sacks three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two pass breakups.

Fox has recorded at least 1.5 sacks every season since assisting in his first during the Rams' 2017 Week 2 loss to the Washington Commanders. It was actually Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins who Fox first sacked.

Fox and Falcons head coach Raheem Morris just missed each other at the Rams. When Fox left in 2021, Morris joined as the defensive coordinator. Now, however, they'll have their chance to work together.

The Falcons recently lost a veteran presence in their defensive line room, too. Grady Jarrett, who was in Atlanta for 10 seasons, was released and signed with the Chicago Bears. So, Fox should be able to help fill that experience void alongside David Onyemata, who's entering his 10th season overall. That could benefit younger players, such as Ruke Orhorhoro and Brandon Dorlus, who were drafted last year and saw limited time during the season.
