The Atlanta Falcons today announced CBS Atlanta as its official preseason television partner and Lincoln Financial Media, owner of STAR 94 FM and Sports Radio 790 The Zone, as the club's official radio broadcast partner.
CBS Atlanta will be the sole provider of Falcons preseason game telecasts. Starting in August 2011, CBS Atlanta will provide fans with exclusive content, including in-depth interviews with players and coaches, giving fans the opportunity to get to know their Falcons off the field.
CBS Atlanta will also broadcast weekly pregame and postgame shows during the regular season. These shows will include one-on-one interviews with players and coaches. In addition, CBS Atlanta will air quarterly specials covering topics such as the Falcons draft, training camp, a midseason report and a season wrapup show.
"We are very excited about our new partnership with the Falcons and the NFL," said Kirk Black, senior vice president of Meredith Local Media and CBS Atlanta's general manager. "Adding the preseason games and weekly Falcons specialty programming expands our already market leading portfolio of sports products."
Lincoln Financial Media will become the Falcons flagship radio network for all preseason and regular season broadcasts. All 20 Falcons games will be heard on STAR 94, and Sports Radio 790 The Zone. In addition to the game broadcast, STAR 94 and Sports Radio 790 The Zone will provide listeners with a pre-game show that will include interviews with head coach Mike Smith, general manager Thomas Dimitroff, quarterback Matt Ryan, and team president Rich McKay.
Following the game, fans can stay tuned to STAR 94 and Sports Radio790 The Zone to catch post-game analysis and exclusive interviews with players and coaches. Fans will still hear the familiar voices of Falcons broadcasters Wes Durham (play-by-play) and former Falcons quarterback Dave Archer (color analyst) calling all of the Falcons action on both stations.
"We are thrilled to be partners with the pre-eminent sports franchise in Atlanta," said Andrew Saltzman, VP/general manager of Sports Radio 790 the Zone. "Both Star 94 and Sports Radio 790 the Zone have always been part of the fabric of Atlanta and with the passion for the Falcons at an all-time high right now, we are very excited about our future together."
McKay said Falcons fans will be thrilled with the club's two new media partners.
"We are pleased with both of the new media partners that emerged from our process," McKay said. "Star 94 and Sports Radio 790 The Zone coupled with CBS Atlanta are solid media companies that are committed to providing Falcons fans with the most innovative, complete and comprehensive coverage from a radio and television perspective, respectively. We look forward to a long and successful association with both partners."
