PHILADELPHIA – The Falcons lost momentum midway through the second quarter, but it didn't take them long to get it back.
Following a LeGarrette Blount touchdown run on fourth down and a missed extra point that gave the Eagles a 6-3 lead, the Falcons' offense was stopped near midfield, setting up Philadelphia with an opportunity to gain control of the game.
That opportunity was quickly squandered as Matt Bosher's punt hit a pair of Eagles players and was quickly recovered by LaRoy Reynolds, marking the third time in the playoffs that the Falcons recovered a muffed punt.
In their win over the Rams in the wild-card round, an early pair of fumble recoveries helped the Falcons gain a quick lead. Falcons coach Dan Quinn stresses the importance of playing well in all three phases, and special teams has been superb thus far in the playoffs.
With the help of a pair of penalties, the Falcons scored their first touchdown of the game on a 6-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Devonta Freeman.
The touchdown gave Atlanta a 10-6 lead with just under six minutes remaining in the first half.
