PHILADELPHIA – The Eagles' opening possession lasted just two plays, ending in a turnover that led to an early 3-0 lead for the Falcons in Saturday's divisional round game.
After Falcons cornerback Brian Poole was called for pass interference on the first play of the game, setting the Eagles up at Atlanta's 33-yard line, safety Ricardo Allen jarred the ball loose from Philadelphia running back Jay Ajayi. The fumble was recovered by safety Keanu Neal, stopping the Eagles' advance and giving the Falcons their first possession.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan wasted no time in leading his team on a march down the field. Atlanta covered 59 yards on its opening drive of the game, converting its first third-down attempt and displaying a good blend of run and pass. The drive halted at the Eagles' 15-yard line, which led Falcons coach to call upon kicker Matt Bryant to attempt a 33-yard field goal. As he has all year, Bryant came through for Atlanta, giving the Falcons an early 3-0 lead.
