Dontari Poe has already experienced a lot of success in his career thus far. Yet, the two-time Pro Bowler feels like his best years are in front of him.
On a conference call with the Atlanta local media, Poe said the combination of the defensive scheme the Falcons run and how head coach Dan Quinn plans to feature him gives him confidence his game can reach another level.
"The best is definitely in front of me with this defense they are running out there," Poe said. "How [Coach Quinn] explained how we will be playing; I feel like the best years are definitely coming up."
Poe said the high energy, aggressive approach Atlanta has on defense is the best situation for him.
Not only can Poe immediately help Atlanta's run defense, the 26-year-old also believes he can bring a lot to the table in terms of rushing the passer because of the style of defense Quinn runs.
"This style of defense lets d-linemen play," Poe said. "They let us attack, they let us go do what d-lineman do and I think it will be good for me."
With Quinn at the helm, the young talent Atlanta possesses and a healthy Poe anchoring the defensive line, it's easy to see why a sense of excitement swirls when talks of the Falcons' defense in 2017 comes about.
