FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Atlanta Falcons re-signed linebacker Josh Woods, the team announced Wednesday.
Woods was signed to the Falcons practice squad early during the 2024 season, and he was later signed to the active roster in Week 17 after the team elevated him for three games. In his five appearances, Woods logged 89 snaps on special teams and made one tackle.
The 6-foot-1, 240-pound linebacker first entered the league in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Maryland. Woods spent two full seasons with the Chicago Bears before he was signed during the 2021 season by the Detroit Lions. Before arriving in Atlanta, Woods played for the Arizona Cardinals and had his best season in 2023 when he started seven games, made 61 tackles, had a forced fumble, pass breakup and recorded half a sack.
Woods figures to provide depth for the Falcons' linebacker group in the summer and fight for a spot on the 53-man roster during the preseason.
