According to a tweet by the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Falcons running back Devonta Freeman could miss "about two weeks" due to a foot injury that forced him out of Sunday's 26-9 victory against the New Orleans Saints.
Freeman did not return to the game against the Saints and finished the contest with 38 yards on 10 carries. With second-string running back Ito Smith recently placed on injured reserve, Brian Hill would likely serve as the Falcons' starting running back should Freeman miss any time. As of now, no official word has been given by the Falcons on Freeman's status.
Falcons coach Dan Quinn said the team would "feel confident" if Hill were to assume a lead role for the team, and he did just that after Freeman exited against the Saints. Hill carried the ball 20 times for 61 yards and had a 10-yard touchdown catch in the victory.
Hill also has success against the Falcons' next opponent, the Carolina Panthers. Last season, Hill carried the ball eight times for 115 yards in a 24-10 victory against the Panthers in Week 16.
