You never know where you might hear Falcons players during the offseason. Last week, Falcons cornerback Asante Samuel made an appearance on Des Moines, Iowa's KXNO's "The Murph and Andy" show.

While on the show, he discussed a range of topics from running his own music label to his stops in Philadelphia and New England before landing in Atlanta last offseason. With Atlanta as the backdrop to the NCAA Final Four last week, the topic turned to the city of Atlanta and its fans and Samuel didn't waste any time sharing his feelings on the fanbase that welcomed him with open arms during the 2012 season.

"I love Atlanta," Samuel said. "I've got nothing but love for Atlanta. The fans are loyal fans. They're die-hard fans. They support their team with the most support. They just want to go out and watch good games and see their team win."

During the playoffs last year Samuel saw first-hand how much Falcons fans support their team. With a packed and loud Georgia Dome, the Falcons beat the Seattle Seahawks before falling 10 yards shy of a win and a trip to the Super Bowl against the 49ers. Those 10 yards could equate to Atlanta being one play away and that's what Samuel said the Falcons needed to do this coming season: make more plays.

"This year hopefully we'll go out and make some more plays and get that championship," Samuel said. "Whatever we need to do to make more plays, we're going to figure it out."

The same general manager, Thomas Dimitroff, that added the playmaking Samuel to the Falcons' roster last offseason is still in charge and has already brought in a few players who can make plays in Steven Jackson and Osi Umenyiora. With 11 picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, Dimitroff will attempt to add a few more playmakers, which should please Samuel and Falcons fans as they set their sights on a championship in 2013.
