Monday
Head coach Mike Smith started the week off with his weekly press conference, where he said the Falcons have flipped the focus to themselves and will spend time looking inward this week as they prepare for the Jets. Smith also spoke about newly added tackle Jeremy Trueblood, and how he could potentially be a staple at right tackle.
Despite a 1-3 start to the season, WR Roddy White said the key for the Falcons is to not push the panic button and make sure everyone in the locker room keeps their heads up.
DT Corey Peters said the Patriots put together a strong scheme on Sunday that slowed down the Falcons' strong run defense, which was previously ranked fifth in the league.
The loss against the Patriots proved that the Falcons are still struggling with red zone issues. Smith said that there are multiple causes for this, adding that they're addressing these issues as a coaching staff and as a team.
Tuesday
With an extra day of practice on Tuesday, Smith said that they took the day to focus on themselves by participating in a light practice that consisted of getting back to basics and fundamentals.
DT Jonathan Babineaux, who has been with the team for seven years, said that he's using his experience to help some of the younger players, adding that they're "in this together as one."
Given the slew of injuries the Falcons have suffered, newly acquired LB Omar Gaither said he's ready for whatever the Falcons ask of him.
The unofficial depth chart had some changes to it this week, including LB Paul Worrilow sliding to the OLB spot opposite Joplo Bartu, while Jeremy Trueblood took over the right tackle spot.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Falcons held their fifth annual Dazzle and Dine event to treat five breast cancer survivors to a day of pampering and dining with players. Wednesday

Thursday
QB Matt Ryan said that although it will take a lot of effort to go up against a strong Jets defense on Monday, the Falcons are taking it one day at a time to be able to prepare well.
WR Julio Jones was also confident about the offense going up against the Jets, saying that Atlanta isn't worried about what other teams are doing and instead are focused on themselves.
CB Robert Alford is trusting in the game plan the coaches have for this week, adding that if the team is able to execute it they'll turn things around and have a winning season.
CB Desmond Trufant also believes the Falcons will turn things around, adding that it comes down to doing the little things right so that the big plays can happen — like capitalizing on the Jets' turnover trend.
After Thursday's practice, Smith said that although he's disappointed in the Falcons' 1-3 record so far, you get what you earn in the NFL and that the team is actively working on getting their problems fixed.
Other news that came after practice was that LT Sam Baker and LB Akeem Dent have been ruled out for Monday's game. With Dent's injury, the linebackers continute to be plagued with injuries. Because of this, linebackers coach Glenn Pires is working extremely hard to make sure that there's no dropoff.

Roddy White believes the Falcons are real close to breaking the season open, adding that once they get things going they'll set themselves in a good postion for the rest of the season.
TE Tony Gonzalez added that the Falcons have to focus solely on execution so that they're able to get on a roll, as it's 'now or never.'
DE Osi Umenyiora said that based off experience throughout his career, he knows that it's way too early in the season for the Falcons to panic.
Smith said after Friday's practice (where CB Asante Samuel and LB Paul Worrilow were upgraded to limited participation) that given how strong the Jets' front seven are, the Falcons have to be able to identify the opposing team's defensive schemes at Monday's game.

Be sure to keep your eye on Tony Gonzalez on Monday, who with a reception would join Jerry Rice as the only two players in NFL history with at least one reception in 200 straight games. The Falcons and Jets will face off on ESPN's Monday Night Football, with kick off set for 8:40 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
