Falcons 'Hopeful' LB De'Vondre Campbell, TE Austin Hooper Return This Week
Rookies De'Vondre Campbell and Austin Hooper suffered injuries in Atlanta's Week 15 win over the 49ers and missed the Falcons' most recent game versus the Carolina Panthers. Hooper is dealing with a knee injury, not considered to keep him out long-term, Coach Quinn said. Campbell was in the concussion protocol all of last week.
Quinn said Monday the team is hopeful to get both rookies back this week, as well as veteran guard Andy Levitre who left Sunday's game with a hip injury.
Falcons vs. Saints Features No. 1 Scoring Offense vs. No. 2 Scoring Offense
A battle between the No. 1 scoring offense (Atlanta) vs. the No. 2 scoring offense (New Orleans) will occur at the Georgia Dome on Sunday afternoon.
Matt Ryan continues to produce MVP-caliber numbers and leads the NFL in QBR with 115.5 and has thrown for 4,613 yards. Drew Brees is also playing at a high level, having thrown for 4,858 yards and 35 touchdowns already this season.
What's at Stake on Sunday?
If the Falcons win on Sunday, they will be the No. 2 overall seed in the NFC and have a first-round bye. A loss would mean they will host a playoff game next weekend, and it would open the door for the Seahawks or Lions to move into the No. 2 seed and get a bye.
Game-Time Change
The NFL announced a number of game-time changes and the Falcons vs. Saints game has been flexed to 4:25 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
